Privacy Policy

pavingcalc.net ("we", "us", "our", "the site") is operated by Sarah Miller (Dover, DE, USA). This privacy policy explains what information we collect when you visit pavingcalc.net, how it is used, and the choices you have. We aim to follow the principles of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) regardless of where you live.

1. Information we collect

  • Calculator inputs you type —length, width, depth, density, currency, etc. These are stored only in your own browser via localStorage so the calculator remembers your last session. We do not transmit them to our servers.
  • Cookies and identifiers —we use cookies for two purposes: (a) Google AdSense advertising and (b) Google Analytics 4 audience measurement. See section 3 below.
  • Server access logs —our hosting provider (Cloudflare) logs IP addresses, user agents, and request paths for security and abuse prevention. These logs are retained for 30 days.
  • Email contact —only if you choose to email us via the contact page. We use that email to reply and do not add it to any newsletter list.

2. We do NOT collect

  • Account registration data (we have no signup)
  • Payment data (we never charge for the calculators)
  • Health, financial, or government-ID data
  • Data from minors (the site is not directed at children under 13)

3. Google AdSense and Google Analytics —required disclosure

This site uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. AdSense uses cookies and similar technologies (such as the __gads and NID cookies) to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the internet.

You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings or by visiting aboutads.info for the broader Network Advertising Initiative opt-out.

This site also uses Google Analytics 4 to measure aggregate audience metrics (page views, scroll depth, calculator usage events). Google Analytics anonymizes IP addresses and does not personally identify you. To opt out site-wide install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

4. How we use the data

  • To deliver and improve calculator functionality (e.g. remember your unit preference)
  • To measure traffic patterns so we know which calculators and guides to expand
  • To display relevant advertisements via Google AdSense, which keeps the calculators free
  • To prevent abuse (e.g. blocking IPs that scrape our content)

We do not sell your data, do not share it with non-Google third parties, and do not perform automated decision-making that legally affects you.

5. Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)

If you are in the EU, UK, or California you have the right to: (a) request a copy of any personal data we hold; (b) request deletion; (c) request correction; (d) object to processing for direct marketing. Email us via the contact page with the subject line "Data Request" and we will respond within 30 days.

To clear all calculator memory in your browser, open your browser settings and delete cookies and site data for pavingcalc.net.

6. Changes to this policy

We will post any update to this policy at the top of the page with a new "Last updated" date. Material changes will also be announced in a banner on the homepage for 30 days.
